Brokers turn to meditation techniques in stressful market

From the South Florida Web site:
What do you do in a real estate market that is seeing sales plummet month after month with no end in sight? More South Florida brokers are turning to meditation to relieve the stress that goes along with a busted real estate bubble. "Sellers are anxious and they are making the brokers anxious," said Mordy Levine, founder of Meditation for Wellbeing, a meditation training firm in Delray Beach, Fla. "It's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel because the tunnel is so long," he continued. "Meditation is a way to calm the mind and reduce stress brokers deal with on a daily basis." Levine works with brokers, among others, to help them deal with the stress of the current real estate market. In addition to stress reduction, the supposed benefits of this ancient practice include peace of mind, enhanced concentration and creativity, and better physical health.

Boo-woo.... when I was in Business School the top Professors would always remind us, "Only a fool does not try to time markets". Buyers will buy when the prices are right. The problem with some Brokers is that they are having trouble resetting their expectations after benefiting from the good fortune of a real estate bubble. Many buyers still cannot afford homes because they are over-priced. Is this meditation class open to them?

I guess sitting around, holding hands and singing Kumbiya wasn't working for the realtors.

Gin Martini's seem to help resolve most real estate matters.

I am a broker. Yes to all the hateful comentators. Alcohol daily works really well !!!!! Functional alcoholic is a nickname for most brokers. Happy now ? Just wonering what do you haters do to cure the ills and neurosis caused by your hate ? 2 out of 3 people in the US suffer from depression. It must all be the horrible brokers fault. You want babble in response to yours well here it is.

I love Gin. Hate tequila. Gin is to a Condo, as Tequila is to a rental.

From reading these comments, I do not see the tone as hateful, just unsympathetic. Just because people do not feel sorry for real estate brokers does not mean they hate them. Think about that in your next meditation session.....

"Unsympathetic" is exactly what people feel for brokers (and most bankers). When times were good you all made tons of money and treated buyers like sh*t as you played one off the other to drive prices and convince people that they had no choice. Now the market is tanking and brokers (and sellers) actually want us to feel bad for them..Note to brokers: Hope you saved some of those big checks from 2005-2007; it's going to get REAL cold for you!
