East 125th St. development

The city is preparing to choose a developer for a 1.7 million-square-foot development on East 125th Street. The project will include retail, with a national chain and local shops, along with restaurants, movie theaters and nightclubs. It will also include office space and up to 1,000 apartments, with a minimum of 30 percent reserved for low-income residents. The city, which is rezoning the area, will decide on a developer by the end of the summer and construction could begin as soon as the end of 2009. [Crain's]
