Clock Tower tries to upstage Plaza

There's a new battle brewing for New York City's supreme conversion between the Plaza Hotel and the Clock Tower, the former MetLife headquarters at 5 Madison Avenue. Africa Israel's US head, Rotem Rosen, says the Clock Tower will be more exclusive, because it will have only 55 units, compared to the Plaza's 181. And he says the celebrities are already lining up to buy. "The clientele will be top celebrities," he told the Observer. "I cannot tell you the names we have already gotten calls from to get a unit, but you can imagine how many celebrities will want to live in this building." Versace is designing the interiors.

this celebrity thing has gone way to far....these Israeli type Investors buy assets with borrowed $, then bet the farm (with someone elses $) on b.s. Hollywood Marketing scams (shoring themselves to the media)....the plaza is the plaza...there will always be a difference between central and Madison square park....furthermore, this asset had its chance (and lost) at the height of the condo boom two years ago when (when the best in the business -- Ian Schraeger, was engaged to design the originally proposed condo's). Versace? Please.....might as well be cipriani's (the mob affiliated establishment recently pinned with tax evasion and whom was subsequently "extracted" from the toy building accross the park.....

Another Swig debacle coming down the pike? -- enough all ready with these speculators and their borrowed loot -- enough with people who only want New York as a dropping off point to make money then skaddle and are out of here.
