Extell's Gary Barnett
Extell Development filed plans this month to construct a 530-unit residential tower at 40 Riverside Boulevard, the greatest number of units in the long-running West Side development known as Riverside South, records with the city Department of Buildings show.
The 33-story tower at 62nd Street is part of the expansive mixed-use Riverside South project, which stretches from 59th to 72nd streets east of the West Side Highway.
The 345-foot tall structure is being designed by architect Costas Kondylis & Partners, according to the DOB application made June 10.
Donald Trump first developed seven buildings on the northern part of the 75-acre Riverside South site, known as Trump Place, and Extell Development completed the Avery and the Rushmore further south. Extell is also building 60 Riverside Boulevard.
The highest number of units today in the series of apartment buildings is the Trump-built 180 Riverside Boulevard, with 516 units, completed in 1998.

some how some way barnett will find a way to make his projects succeed. He is very smart and knows the intricacies of the market better than most developers out there. good things gary, good things.

Forget about the number of units. The question is will it be as boring, bland, and uninspired as the rest of Kostas buildings. I assume it will be, so it cab blend in with the rest of the boxes along the boulevard.

CORRECTION - trump DOES NOT own those buildings, he owned their land and sold them - ro something of the sort - check public records.

Gershon Bartnetzovick's friends in the Israeli mob will be financing this and in order to launder their money. They'll probably divert some of the funds to AIPAC and Jane Harmon too.

filing plans doesn't mean breaking ground. he's smart to line up his ducks so that he can begin building once the market begins looking up.

please no more Kostas!! so blah, so nothing - yes he knows nyc zoning, big deal. love that the community board blocks Jean Nouvel designs, but thumbs up to this crap (plus Gene Kaufman + other no talents). This is a grand location - we all see it from the highway - build at least one building that dazzles

Considering that most of the Rushmore buyers don't want to close this may not be the most brilliant move. All of the RSB buildings have had big price cuts and the ones in the 70's are much better located. The Equity rentals have large vacancies and had to cut rents a lot.

Look at Extell and Equity's 303 Third Street in Cambridge, MA...it's a disaster...let the lawsuits begin!

That's the best time ever to start building. Desperate contractors and out of work union workers will compete like crazy for a baby like this one... By the time it's up and running, the market will look different. I pitty the 10 West End buyers... Bye Bye river views!

to # 4 & #7 First #7 - please elaborate, tell us more. #4 - I bet you're an architect! No we will not forget about the number of units. Please build MORE UNITS. We need a place to live. We need apt. This city will be sadder if it's all traveling billionairs flying into temp homes... with no where to go or eat because broadway and other artists cannot find a place to live, let alone pay for it.
