Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani's old roommates, Queens car dealership owner Howard Koeppel and his life-partner Mark Hsiao, paid $2.3 million for a new condo at the Avery on the Upper West Side, according to property records posted today.
Koeppel and Hsiao closed on the apartment at Extell Development's
100 Riverside Boulevard on June 6, after going into contract in August,
2007.
The transaction was handled by Giuliani's divorce attorney, Raoul Felder, who also worked on the divorce between the former mayor and his ex-wife Donna Hanover. Giuliani moved out of Gracie Mansion during his second term to live with Koeppel and Hsiao amid reports that he was having an affair with another woman.
Koeppel said he was drawn to the new condo by its permanently unobstructed views of the Hudson River.
He planned to invite Giuliani sometime after the furniture was trucked over, but was disappointed the former mayor will not be president.
"I was promised any bed in the White House but his," Koeppel said.
