Kaufman Astoria studio breaks ground
October 20, 2008 05:30PMKaufman Astoria Studios, one of New York City's largest film and television studios, broke ground on a $20 million new building today. The building is diagonally across the street from Kaufman Astoria's current building in Astoria, Queens and will include an 18,000-square-foot sound stage and 22,000 square feet of office and support space, including dressing rooms and a carpentry shop. It is the studio's seventh stage and was made possible through a $5 million grant from the city and $2 million from the Empire State Development Corp. [Crain's]
