Lauder daughter buys Wainscott home

Billionaire Ronald Lauder, of Estee Lauder fame, has sold his $5.256 million Wainscott property to his daughter Aerin Lauder Zinterhofer, senior vice president of the famed cosmetics company her grandmother founded, who married on the property in 1996. The Wainscott residence is one of many Ronald Lauder owns, including spots in East Hampton and Westhampton Beach. The sale was officially completed Oct. 5. [Newsday]

Only an idiot wouldn't give it to his daughter. he actually sold her a property. it is almost laughable! Maybe the property is actually worth $10 million, an investigation should be started.

#2 - Only an idiot wouldn't know that you can't give someone a $5 million gift without the recipient paying taxes.

Actually, the first 5 million of any estate is tax free. Only assets exceeding the 5 million threshold are subject to the estate tax. Of course these numbers are likely to change under the current administration. After all, someone has to pay for all this spending.
