Meatpacking District could shift with Standard

December 10, 2008 10:30AM

The Standard, Andre Balazs' 18-story, 337-room hotel at the corner of Washington and West 13th streets, is slated to open the first 150 guest rooms later this month and to become fully operational by spring. The hotel will be four stories taller and have nearly twice as many rooms as the nearby Hotel Gansevoort. The owner of the Gansevoort, Richard Born, predicts that the Standard will become the "Ground Zero of the Meatpacking District," and that it will be incredibly successful. [NYO]
