New School growth on hold

From the November issue: The colorful collage of banners and academic building signs around Fifth Avenue and 13th Street owes its multi-hued palette to the highly active leasing and refurbishing activity of the New School, which has been a player there since 2000. But had it not been for the economic crisis, that streetscape would be getting even spiffier with the addition of a shiny new building. Although the tumultuous expansion of nearby New York University has been the focus of local attention in recent years, the New School has also emerged as a transformative force in the Greenwich Village skyline.
