Openings and closings: Screme expands, Park Slope record store evicted

Screme, the ice creamery, has signed a lease for a location at 300 East 64th Street, at Second Avenue. Screme has also leased space recently on the Upper West Side and at 10 West 8th Street, and owner Yona Levy hopes to have 10 New York City locations by this time next year. A lounge opened on the lower floor of Rouge Tomate, at 10 East 60th Street, this week. Long Island City nightclub Water Taxi Beach will be opening its South Street Seaport location May 30. Chipotle Mexican Grill is coming to the northwest corner of Irving Place and 14th Street. Kif, at 219 DeKalb Avenue in Fort Greene, has expanded its garden seating space. Jeffrey Chodorow's restaurant in the Kimpton Hotel at Sixth Avenue and 30th Street is slated to open in 2010.

The Papaya King on 42nd Street and Ninth Avenue has moved across the street. The Record and Tape Center, a 38-year-old record shop on Fifth Avenue near 9th Street in Park Slope, will close by May 31 after receiving an eviction notice. TRD
