Openings and closings: Think Coffee to open third space, Teany temporarily closed by fire

A fire broke out at Teany, a sandwich and tea shop at 90 Rivington Street, around 2 a.m., but the owner hopes to reopen the space in a few weeks. The Cub Room, at 131 Sullivan Street at Prince Street, has been repossessed by the landlord. Deca has been evicted after two years of community protests against the Tribeca bar. Montparnasse, a French restaurant in the Pod Hotel at 230 East 51st Street, has closed. The Chicken Bar on 52nd Street between Lexington and Third avenues has closed. Luca Luca has closed at 690 Madison Avenue. The Southampton location of club Pink Elephant has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, but the club's other locations, in Manhattan and Sao Paulo, are unaffected.

As these restaurants and retailers shutter, others are opening. Think Coffee will open its third location, at 123 Fourth Avenue between 12th and 13th streets, by the end of the summer. Teich, a boutique, has opened at 84 East 7th Street between First and Second avenues. In Brooklyn, Nature's Grill, a health-conscious restaurant, is opening at 138 Court Street in Downtown Brooklyn. In Greenpoint, 7 Eleven is taking over the former Halpern-Perlow space at 883 Manhattan Avenue. TRD
