Rapid Realty apologizes, changes style

Anthony Lolli
The Brooklyn-based rental firm Rapid Realty NYC said it is focusing more on customer service after reading negative reviews about the brokerage on Web sites like Curbed.com and Yelp.com. "Real estate has always been a cut-throat industry in Brooklyn, and we got wrapped up in the competitiveness," Rapid Realty's owner, Anthony Lolli, said in a statement. "But when I started to read what customers were saying about our approach, I knew that we had to make some changes." Rapid Realty said in a statement that in order to better help customers, it restructured its Web site to provide more information about rentals, including explaining all the fees and giving potential renters more ways to contact the company. Rapid Realty said it is issuing "a statement of regret to apologize to customers that they may have burned in the past." [Curbed]

Rapid Realty made it a 'cut throat' industry. Scheming, unprofessional and not trustworthy Agents will bring your company DOWN!!!! You cannot just go to a 'space' and put up signs from hear say. Have some respect for the listing Agent/s. I will NOT recommend Rapid Realty to anyone. Unless, Rapid Realty shapes up (fast!).

Is a landlord just going to let some random company put up a sign on his/her property without talking to them first? Maybe they could get the guy a better deal?

They were (past tense, they are dead to me) by far the WORST "agents" in the city or the world for that matter. When I was first looking to find an apartment in the Park Slope area they were the first stop I made. However after sitting in their "waiting" room/bullpen for more than 2 hours without speaking to anyone or seeing the service the other clients were getting I hightailed it out of there! Best move I ever made, the next day I took a 3BR for $1600 no fees from a friend of a friend in a private residence. PS I never comment here but when I started reading the headline I knew it could only be one agency and lo and behold a quick Google search confirmed my suspicions.

its very unfortunate that things dont always go the way people would want them to. at the end of the day, you cant please everyone but i bet that rapid probably makes more people happy than people who might not get the best of our service. maybe its just a result of bad timing, .............. or bad judgement

I rented an apartment with Rapid in 2007. Tthe agent was very sweet. I am a broker myself and knowing how much brokers get burned by UNSCRUPULOUS SCUMBAG RENTERS i stayed loyal to this agent to my own detriment - I ended up with a screwed up apartment - which was due to the screwed up landlord -slumlord not the agent. All you people up in these comments are seriously DISORIENTED

It All comes from the root... Their broker, good job on keeping your agents stupid and making money. Its a successful plan until your agents start doing ignorant things and your company gets trashed for it... Hopefully you've learned your lesson and start making your agents well rounded real estate sales people before its too late.... Fire always gets put out, just like ice eventually melts...

So sad to see nothing but negative comments. Every company is dragged through the mud. Even on the recent article posted about JC Deniro closing up. The competition are like vultures who pounce and thrive on negativity. No one is protected from it. Even the big name firms like Corcoran, Prudential, Brown Harris. Its always, good riddance, or they were shady anyway, the brokers a crook, blah blah blah. We get it, you hate everybody See for yourself. 04/21/09 at 06:00PM JC DeNiro closes up shop for good By Candace Taylor Anonymous Those guys owe money all over town. Another business that spent money they didn't have. Comment #8 Posted By: Anonymous 04/21/09 Anonymous this business is crowded with clowns doesnt matter elliman, jc deniro, paripassu all clowns Comment #9 Posted By: Anonymous 04/21/09 Anonymous here's a word of advise DON'T go to CORCORAN. beware. No company is more unethical, disrespectful, tasteless and basically a living lie and scum. Elliman is a better bet for one reason only..lesser of two evils. Comment #23 Posted By: Anonymous 04/22/09

Maybe the comments should be required reading of real estate agents. They're reviled, and have earned it.

South Carolina Court Awards $1.8 Million Libel Judgment Against Blogger Posted April 14th, 2009 by Sam Bayard The Sun News reports that a South Carolina state court has awarded Scott Brandon $1.8 million in damages for defamation arising out of statements published on the Myrtle Beach Insider blog. Brandon, who is the head of an ad agency with offices in Charleston and Myrtle Beach, sued local businessman Donald Wizeman in April 2008, claiming that Wizeman was the author of Myrtle Beach Insider and that Wizeman had defamed him by publishing a June 2007 post calling him a "failed lawyer" and criticizing one of his ad agency's campaigns.

Rapid Realty earned their place in garbage can of Real Estate. The firm should've been where Brooklyn Properties or A&H is but the owner/management decided to keep their company a low-class boiler room operation. It's not a misunderstanding when consistently lie about your fee structure. It's not by chance many of your clients complain about all the drama just to get their deposit back. It's not a slight oversight when most of your agents pretend to be "property managers" so they can post in the by owner section of craigslist for free. It's a joke when you - a real estate company have your offices in the worst locations imaginable just to save a buck.
