Real estate's most verbose talking heads

A look at the busy schedules of NYC's go-to market pundits November 10, 2009 04:00PM

Go-to contacts, from left to right: Dan Fasulo of Real Capital Analytics, Corcoran Group founder Barbara Corcoran, Bob Knakal of Massey Knakal Realty and Jonathan Miller of Miller Samuel
From the November issue: They're the talking heads on cable news screens, the sources behind industry stories, and the speakers at luncheons, seminars and panel discussions. Now more than ever, the mainstream media is relying on real estate experts who can provide commentary on a complex market. And while their names have graced the pages of The Real Deal and many other industry publications hundreds of times, they now routinely get calls and interview requests from all over the world. Barbara Corcoran, the founder of the Corcoran Group and now a regular on the "Today Show"; Jonathan Miller, the ubiquitous president of appraisal firm Miller Samuel; Dan Fasulo, managing director at Real Capital Analytics; and Bob Knakal, chairman of Massey Knakal Realty are just a few among a growing bunch of go-to contacts. more

Barbara is unapologetically authentic. Who she is is who you get with no posturing or pandering. Very refreshing.

I recognize three of these people, but not the guy on the left. Never seen or heard of him and I read The Real Deal every month.

Dan, unlike Babs, is a real economist who is very well respected amongst people who do the real economics of commercial real estate. Babs knows nothing of economics. Bob Knakal does, but is a salesman first. Miller knows much less than Dan. Further, Dan is well known throughout the nation. Everyone else is a NYC local that thrives more on hot air.

Everyone in NYC is trying to be the "go to", and most consumers don't trust them as far as they can throw them. With Babs probably being the lightest toss- and furthest toss.
