Real Estate TV to go with Sunday morning breakfast

Another New York real estate television show is getting set to debut this summer.
The hour-long program, NY Residential TV, will hit the airwaves on June 15 on CW11 and will fill the 9 a.m. Sunday slot on the network.
Jeff Appel, senior vice president of Preferred Empire Mortgage, will host the show with WPIX reporter and interior designer Cathy Hobbs.
The show is one of several already on the air. Last June, NBC debuted OpenHouse New York. That show is on Saturday mornings, so the two won't be facing off directly.
Hobbs says NY Residential TV will include nine segments on each episode and will feature open houses, interviews with industry experts and a wide range of other items meant to appeal to both industry insiders and laypeople.
Topics will run the gamut from preparing appetizers for open houses to decorating. One weekly segment, titled "For the Money," will show how much one price point buys for different homes in various New York City neighborhoods. Another one called "Flips and Flops," will show major renovation projects done by investors, both failures and successes.
Appel will handle interviews with industry leaders, while Hobbs will host a segment on designer tips. The show will also include less regular bits like "Hot Topic," a how-to on purchasing a co-op.
Appel said the open house and renovation segments will cover a broad range of prices and that targeting a wider audience would help attract more viewers.
Appel told The Real Deal he expects the show to generate around 185,000 viewers.
Sparkway Media and Sokol Media are producing it and Hobbs will also act as executive producer.

Open House NYC on NBC is a higher-budget, higher reach show on a top network. Open House NYC airs at 8:30AM on Sundays, not on Saturdays. The Open House franchise is starting Open House LA, Open House Chicago, and more.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, "Real Estate" is the hottest topic out there...eavesdrop on any dinner conversation in any given restaurant, and I'll give you 2 guesses what the conversation is about! Keep an ear open to conversation on the street, on a bus, on the subway...people are talking about...you guessed it...real estate...a search for a condo, co-op, rental, a bidding process, etc. The show is not only a great idea from the standpoint of giving information to viewers, but also another indication that CW11 is competing in the marketplace..ready, willing and able to satisfy its viewers! Congratulations for launching a great idea! Lorri Scott
