Residents move into old Harlem church

Rhapsody on Fifth, 2056 Fifth Avenue

Residents are moving into 2056 Fifth Avenue, a luxury Harlem condominium at a restored Beaux Arts building at 127th Street. Rhapsody on Fifth's 22 studio, one- and two-bedroom units range from the upper $600,000s to $1.57 million. The brick and limestone building was built in the 1920s as a meeting hall for Harlem's Finnish community. For the last four decades, it was Gospel Temple Church. The developer Arthur Fefferman, president of AFC Realty Capital, bought the building in 2005 for $4.5 million. The project architect, George Schieferdecker, a partner at BKSK Architects, told The Real Deal last year: "It was a very simple building. There was not much of an expression on the outside of what was going on inside." TRD
