Rudolph House may get landmark status

The Rudolph House, designed and then purchased by famed architect Paul Rudolph in 1965, may be on its way to landmark status. According to the New York Observer, the Landmarks Preservation Commission has taken the first steps toward landmarking the home at 23 Beekman Place, a move that many preservationists are applauding, as many of Rudolph's works have reportedly been demolished -- including a high school he designed in Florida, which was destroyed this summer. The home became the center of controversy in 2007, when owner Steve Campus sued the owner of the neighboring 21 Beekman Place over a 27-foot wall he constructed, which Campus said blocked his view. You mean thatI will have to continue to puke everytime I walk by this building for the rest of my like. I wish someone would knock it down. It is one of the ugliest buildings on earth.

Obviously there are some who cannot appreciate the unique architecture or the beauty of what is within this exceptional and incomparable townhouse.
