A Target store is scheduled to open next year as the anchor tenant for the East River Plaza shopping center at 116th Street and FDR Drive. Brokers believe Target will help raise real estate prices in East Harlem, which still lacks amenities. Two other Targets are under construction in the Bronx and Queens.  [Sun]

What a piece of propaganda. Have you ever been in a Target? Raise real estate values? There are a whole bunch of really empty looking new condo bldgs in "Far East" Harlem. If the development is successful, it will change the charm of the hood. It could be a flop, as it takes time for a destination Shopping Center to succeed.

Real estate prices may increase in East Harlem but this will in the long run help to attract more amenities. LiveUptown.com is a Harlem based real estate marketing website. Thomas Lopez-Pierre Managing Member LiveUptown.com
