Forty-two tools were stolen from the construction site of Flank's condominium project at 385 West 12th Street, according to law enforcement sources.

Summit Construction and subcontractor Polar Bear Cooling workers discovered that the tools, which belong to the subcontractor, were missing from inside the building when they arrived at 7 a.m. yesterday to start working, according to Carrie Lawlor, the office manager of Polar Bear Cooling. Summit Construction was not immediately available for comment. Police valued the tools at around $5,000.

The condo, being developed by Flank with associate developer Peter Moore Associates, and designed by Flank's architecture arm, has 12 units including four townhomes, as well as a swimming pool, sun deck and spa. Brown Harris Stevens' ID Marketing is marketing the project.

Timothy Crowley, managing director of Flank, said he wasn't aware of the theft.

The development topped off in July and is nearing completion.

"The curtain wall is going up, and we're delivering the apartments in mid- to late-summer," Crowley said. He noted that seven of the 12 units in the doorman building are in contract. Prices range from $5.5 million to $11 million, according to Streeteasy.com. Flank's other projects under construction in the city are condos at 441 East 57th Street and 240 West Broadway, and a hotel at 250 Bowery.

So why is this story is remotely deserving of being reported on? I guess it's a slow day at the Real Deal? Get with it guys, tools are stolen from construction sites all the time. If you’re going to report on this, then you might as well report on the scourge of jaywalking in front of YL’s Rector Square…

Oh tragedy. Too bad they can't raise the prices per sqf on the project anymore than they already have.

Is the loss of the hamster real estate related? Killed by an unscrupulous mortgage broker perhaps? The Real Deal should investigate!

Several roofs in the greater Metropolitan area have leaked over the past four months forcing local residents either make costly repairs or live in damp housing. Some call for Federal action.
