A triple-wide Georgian-style mansion on the Upper East Side sold for $32 million, one third off last fall's listing price of $45 million.

The 13-room mansion at 152-156 East 81st Street was owned by the late Louise Hoguet Saurel and was sold by Saurel's heirs to an entity called Sefada LLC, going into contract in March and closing June 19, according to city property records published today.

There were no mortgages listed for the purchase.

Saurel lived in the 57-foot-wide townhouse until her death in 2008 at age 92.

As we all know, she is a material girl...with lots of conspicuous toys and an empty head. Money does not equal class...another prime example of our celebs making too much for what they do. In a world where our teachers have to take abuse every day, and our police and firefighters are drastically underpaid as well, this is shameful. Why would ANYONE need this much space? Did she ever hear of a carbon footprint? Does she even care?

#5 - i think its great that she bought it and presumably will restore it. As far as carbon footprint, she bought an old house. Not clearing a forest to put up a Mcmansion - that is very green.

not to mention, before Madonna moves in with her entourage and 12 kids, there was one old lady living in this entire house, so if anyone would need this space it would probably be Madge

our police, firefighters, and teachers are overpaid - enough of that already - thousands of people apply for a few spots, clearly they are paid too much.

She can afford it, and walked into a city looking (as always) to rip off those able to bend over. Having the $ to buy it doesn't make for a smart consumer, but it sure seems to impress the shallow NYC contingent (all the way to the bank)...

Only decent house on the market with a private garage, which is her #1 requirement.
