Companies affiliated with residential apartment owner Vantage Properties bought two adjacent, six-story buildings in Washington Heights for $40.2 million from a real estate company based in Woodmere, N.Y.

The larger property, a 186-unit elevator building located at 34 Hillside Avenue, sold for $23.1 million. The other, a 155-unit elevator building next door at 2 Ellwood Street, sold for $17.1 million.

The seller was Abro Management, a person with the company said.

The sale closed July 30, according to property records.

Capin and Associates represented both the buyer and seller in the transactions.

"Washington Heights is one of New York's most vibrant and historic neighborhoods," Neil Rubler, president and chief executive officer of Vantage Properties, said in a statement.

This is in Inwood or if you are the post office... Fort George but this is NOT Washington Heights. Washington Heights ends at 181st street

Re: Comment #1 From Wikipedia: Though the neighborhood was once considered to run as far south as 125th Street, modern usage defines the neighborhood as running north from Harlem (Hamilton Heights) at 155th Street to Inwood, topping out just below Dyckman Street.

I consider it a border area. I'd call it Fort George since I'm that type of person. But what I really want to know is what this purchase means for the area....Hmmmm

This means that like all other neighborhoods since the dawn of NY, this one too shall become more expensive. Not exactly breaking news.

Instead of buying more apartments they should work on giving the tenants the services they need; repairs. Trying to drive the tenants out of the building so they can raise the rent up and earn more profit -_-' They need to stop this.

Inwoodite - born & raised

Actually, that's wrong. Inwood starts at Dyckman Street and ends right before the Broadway Bridge. I don't know why people never get this right.
