Pataki calls special stadium meeting

Gov. George Pataki has taken the unusual step of ordering a special meeting of the Public Authorities Control Board for next week to give the stadium another chance, but it is not clear that a week will be enough time to sweep away doubts about the project among state legislators. Meantime, Jets team officials say they may sign today a backup plan to play in a new stadium in New Jersey until 2018 with an option to move to Manhattan at any time during their lease should a West Side stadium be built. more [NYT]
