Mets owner agrees to help fund stadium

New York Mets owner and Sterling Equities chairman Fred Wilpon has agreed to pay $600 million toward a new stadium next to the existing Shea Stadium in Flushing. Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the proposed stadium on Sunday night. It would not only be home to the Mets, but may also host the 2012 summer Olympics. The International Olympic Committee is expected to decide the host city by July 6. more [Daily News]
