Katrina may not affect housing market that much

Hurricane Katrina shouldn’t have much of an effect on the housing market’s current nationwide boom, according to experts. While oil prices went up because of the storm and building materials experienced a shortage, housing could emerge unscathed. In fact, the hurricane may help the housing market in areas like Houston and Atlanta, which are seeing an increase in renting and home-buying as a result of Katrina. more [NYT]
