More mortgage payments late, missed

The number of Americans making their mortgage payments late, or not making them at all, has picked up over the last several months. The Mortgage Bankers Association says the delinquency rate has risen to 4.7 percent from July through September, up from 4.4 percent in the second quarter. Borrowers with troubled credit histories and those who took out loans with interest rates that increase over time have defaulted most often. more [NYT]
