Staten Island development slows

Department of Buildings figures show that the number of new building permits in Staten Island fell by 44 percent in November, the largest decline in all five boroughs. The number of permits issued through November, 754, was a sharp downturn from the tally at this time last year, 1,345. The slowdown is attributed to the weakening residential market, rezoning in the borough and the loss of a tax-abatement program on new construction. more [Advance]
