Group says heliport should buzz off

Friends of Hudson Park, an advocacy group, is leaning on the city and state to shut down the West 30th Street Heliport. The group says the noise and fumes from the tourist helicopters that use the site disrupt the calm at the rest of the park. Friends of Hudson River Park is threatening to sue the Hudson River Park Trust over the presence of the heliport, which has officials looking to move the heliport’s operations a couple blocks north and banning all helicopter trips from the new site that are not for business or emergency purposes. more [NYT]
