City lifts Trump Soho’s stop-work order

The city Department of Buildings has partially lifted the stop-work order at Trump Soho, allowing work on the tower at 246 Spring Street to continue in phases. Interior construction can resume, and work on curtain-wall panels can restart at the 23rd floor and below. The Buildings Department said it will indefinitely maintain a daily presence at the site. Bovis Lend Lease, the contractor, replaced its site safety manager and added new management staff, the DOB said. Bovis Lend Lease workers must now pass an eight-hour safety training course and a four-hour safety orientation at the site. A new New York Magazine article calls the project “a 46-story skyscraper being built on a graveyard that’s brought together shadowy Russians and a billionaire brand name to attract internationals in a zoning-skirting scheme that’s enraged the neighborhood, sent glass shattering to the street, and killed a construction worker.” TRD
