Some hold out hope for Moynihan Station

Not everyone has given up on the grand plans for replacing Penn Station with Moynihan Station, which looked all but dead last week when the Dolan family said it would renovate Madison Square Garden. The Moynihan Station plan depends on moving the Garden, and some officials say the Dolans could be bluffing in an effort to strengthen their negotiating position. The optimists question why the Dolans would give up on a new arena to instead pay hundreds of millions of dollars to fix an old one. Even if the Dolans try to renovate the old Garden, the city must approve the project.
