Queens Museum of Art doubling size

Designs are shaping up for the Queens Museum of Art’s $47 million expansion project. The New York City Building, the site of the World’s Fair in 1939 and 1964, will double in size at it spreads over an ice skating rink. The stone and glass structure also became one of the first homes of the United Nations in 1946. The museum will remove bris soleil shading panels attached before the 1964 fair and restore a colonnade intact at the 1939 fair.
