Tighe, Tosko win REBNY awards

Mary Ann Tighe and Gregory Tosko of CB Richard Ellis took home the first place Henry Hart Rice Award at REBNY’s “Most Ingenious Deals of the Year Awards” last night at the 101 Club.

Tighe and Tosko won for “Adding Color to Grey: The Winding Road to Grey Group’s 370,000 square foot Anchor Lease at 200 Fifth Ave.” That deal involved redeveloping the former Toy Center, which had been slated for residential conversion.

Moshe Sukenik and David Noonan of Newmark Knight Frank won the second place Robert T. Lawrence Award for “The Land Swap that led to the new Lincoln Square Synagogue,” a complex sale-leaseback deal that led to the building of the synagogue Temple Emanu-El.

The award was Sukenik’s second.

Andrew Singer and Kathleen McSharry of the Singer & Bassuk Organization won the third place Edward S. Gordon Award for the finance deal at 50 Murray Street. That deal allowed World-Wide Holdings, the ground lessor at 50 Murray Street, to get replacement permanent financing for the luxury rental housing development.

That marked the third time Singer and McSharry won an award.

There were seven nominees for each category; no runners up were announced.

Studley’s Woody Heller was the emcee at the event, the REBNY’s Sales Brokers Committee’s 64th annual cocktail party. He made light of Manhattan’s slow market, giving brokers advice to “be sure to submit any deal [made in 2008], because anything that does close will be, by definition, ingenious.”
