MTA to build security barriers at Penn

The Metropolitan Transit Authority will move forward with a $15 million
project to install security barriers around Penn Station, following a
three-year delay of the plan. Madison Square Garden, Vornado Realty and
security officials from Amtrak and the MTA reached an agreement on the
barriers, after the stadium’s owners expressed concern that they would
impede on pedestrian traffic. The addition, a series of four-foot poles
surrounding the facility, is slated for completion in 2010.
