Homeland Security project planned for Bethpage

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is coming to Bethpage, N.Y., in the form of a $190 million new development called the New York Center of Innovation and Excellence in Homeland Security.

New York City-based Swanke Hayden Connell Architects and Cameron Engineering have been named the designers for the 65,000-square-foot project.

Plans for the facility include a main communication complex, about 20 research cells, simulation lab, digital theater and lecture hall, which will link to other organizations part of the virtual homeland security network. TRD
