Five big sports stadiums and arenas are being built in greater New York, flooding the market with luxury suites and boxes. The Nets’ Barclay Center in Brooklyn plans to have 130 suites, and the new Yankee Stadium will have 57, priced as high as $350,000 a season. The new Mets stadium will feature 54 luxury boxes for $500,000 each. Analysts say teams are building smaller stadiums with less room for regular fans and more room for boxes, even though stadiums around the country are removing luxury boxes after they couldn’t sell them.
