Dick Zigun, the self-proclaimed “Mayor of Coney Island,” has been living rent-free at the Coney Island Development Corp.’s headquarters on Surf Avenue for a decade, the Post reports. The city gave the CIDC $3.6 million last year in taxpayer-funded grant money to buy the building, which is not zoned for residential use. Zigun said he plans to resign in protest from the CIDC on June 24, the day of the first public hearing for Coney Island’s rezoning plan, which includes residential and retail development.
