Apthorp condos selling high

The Apthorp, an Astor-built Upper West Side apartment complex with 88 rent-controlled apartments, will put 163 apartments on the market this summer to current residents and this fall to the public. They will sell for about $3,000 per square foot, a higher rate than initial offering prices of 15 Central Park West. The building will see service upgrades and central air installed over the summer. Manhattan House point man Howard Margolis of Prudential Douglas Elliman recently left the project to head up the Apthorp conversion, as The Real Deal first reported.
