City unveils more safety rules for constructions sites

City officials announced a seven-point safety plan to strengthen inspections and require more safety reviews for cranes. This is the second batch of new safety regulations following the two fatal crane collapses this year. The regulations were introduced at a Congressional hearing of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The rules include more efficient crane safety records, more testing and certification for crane operators and more surveillance on crane assembly and disassembly.
