U.S.
attorneys in several states are investigating whether Lehman Brothers Holdings misled investors
before filing for bankruptcy. In one case, the U.S.
attorney’s office for New York’s Southern
District in Manhattan
is looking into whether Lehman valued its assets at artificially high levels.
Some financial firm executives that looked at Lehman’s commercial real estate
portfolio say they believe the portfolio was being overvalued by as much as 35
percent.
