Union protests One Hanson Place with Web site

The
building service workers union launched a Web site to protest former
NBA basketball star Magic Johnson’s use of non-union workers at
One Hanson Place, a Brooklyn condominium owned by his investment
company. The Web site, NoMagicHealthCare.org, calls attention
to the workers, who receive individual health care, but have to pay
extra for family members’ coverage, which union workers receive as part of their contract. Johnson’s company, Canyon-Johnson
Urban Fund, partnered with the Dermot Company to convert the former
Williamsburgh Savings Bank into luxury condos.
