Bronx hospital in trouble again

The New York Presbyterian Hospital said last spring it would merge with the failing Westchester Square Medical Center, but last week said it was pulling out of the deal for economic reasons. The Westchester Square Medical Center is now looking for another hospital to partner with, but could close if it doesn’t do so within six months. The Westchester Square Medical Center has been in danger of closing since the Department of Health ordered it to shutter in November 2006 to stem soaring health costs.
