No evictions during the holidays

The marshals who evict people from their apartments in the city have
begun their unofficial two-week holiday. The marshals have been
honoring the eviction moratorium for decades, and tenant advocates say
it was probably created to help landlords avoid negative publicity for
tossing people out during the holidays. The city Department of
Investigation regulates the 45 marshals and said it doesn’t sanction
the moratorium. Also in the holiday spirit, Freddie Mac has formally suspended tenant evictions through January 9.
