Developers create staged apartments to draw buyers

Because most
people aren’t buying homes based on floor plans anymore, developers are
staging properties to show buyers what a unit could potentially look
like. Alchemy Properties hired Jill Vegas Staging to create a model
apartment at Hudson Hill Condominium, at 462 West 58th Street between
Ninth and Tenth avenues, which is still under construction. Jill Vegas, founder of the eponymous firm,
said staging can bring an empty apartment to life with furniture and
accessories, or can enhance an apartment that is occupied by minimizing
clutter and removing personal items like photographs so buyers can
imagine themselves — rather than the seller– living in the unit. Hiring a staging company can
cost a few hundred dollars for a consultation or thousands of dollars
to fill an empty apartment.
