A construction safety trainer approved by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration allegedly sold between 50 and 60 fake cards certifying that hard hats participated in a 30-hour safety class they did not attend. Larry Fontanez, who was arrested in November, was certified to teach 10- and 30-hour construction safety classes. He was arrested after the School Construction Authority began an undercover investigation into fake OSHA safety class certification cards, which were sold for $250, compared to the $500 cost of enrolling in the classes.
