Yankee Stadium tester has license restored

New York State Supreme Court Justice Martin Shulman today reinstated the license of Testwell, a construction company accused of faking concrete and steel tests at the new Yankee Stadium, the Freedom Tower and other projects. Testwell’s license was suspended by the city’s Department of Buildings after the company and CEO Reddy Kancharla were indicted for fraud and larceny. Testwell filed a lawsuit two weeks ago, arguing that the license suspension was illegal because no criminal charges had been proven. City lawyer Paula Van Meter said the city plans to appeal today’s decision.
