Coney rezoning to face community board

The city’s rezoning plan for Coney Island entered the public approval
process in January and will go before a community board this evening.
Yesterday, several unions, community advocacy groups and elected
officials said they would oppose the project if the city doesn’t meet
their demands for better wages, more below market-rate housing and a
better amusement area. The city also has not released an estimate on
infrastructure improvements for Coney Island, which the Bloomberg
administration’s environmental impact statement said would include
sewers, water systems, and higher streets.
