“Angel House” faces foreclose

Arthur Wood’s “Angel House” in
Clinton Hill is heading towards foreclosure. The building used to have
an extra 50 feet of wooden beams, ladders and stained glass that Wood
created, but the Department of Buildings ordered that the structure
be torn down after a fire, saying it was unsafe and built without the proper
permits. In 2007, developer Shaun Andersen helped Wood get financing
and repair the house, and planned to turn the building into condos,
artists’ studios and community space. Now, Wood and Anderson are in
default on a $1.8 million loan.
