Dutch Kills sees amped up development effort

Long Island City neighborhood Dutch Kills is experiencing rapid gentrification and development, according to LiQcity, due in part to an uptick in developers’ interest. Several hotels, including Quality Inn, Verve Hotel, and Holiday Inn, have all opened in the neighborhood over the last year, while a grouping of as-of-yet-unknown developments have sprouted up near the corner of 39th Avenue and 28th Street. This transformation owes a great deal to the city’s recent rezoning of the neighborhood, according to LiQcity, after years of stalling on the matter.
