A registered sex offender who spent nearly 15 years behind bars reportedly works as a superintendent at three Upper West Side apartment buildings, where he has key access to dozens of apartments, according to the Post. William Barnason, who was convicted in 1986 for the sexual assault of four female victims, three under the age of 17, one as young as five, according to the New York State Sex Offender Registry, has been working as a superintendent for landlord Stanley Katz for several years at 140 West 75th Street, 142 West 75th Street, and at 144 West 73rd Street, the latter where he also lives. Several residents at the buildings allege that he’s propositioned them for sex in exchange for reduced rents and better units. Katz reportedly hired Barnason around the time of his release, although the exact date he was first employed is not immediately clear. Katz’s attorney, Santo Golino, did not immediately return a request for comment from The Real Deal.
