Fraunces Tavern to re-open next month

Fraunces Tavern, the landmark Financial District restaurant and museum that served as Gen. George Washington’s last stop at the end of the Revolutionary War, is close to reopening, according to the New York Times. The paper spotted a sign taped to the door of the museum portion of the 54 Pearl Street building noting that it had been closed due to “final renovations” on the restaurant. A worker on the scene later confirmed that the restaurant plans to serve Thanksgiving dinner and to fully re-open in early December. The tavern has been shuttered since February, when operator Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York announced that new management would be taking over after a brief interlude. The Porterhouse Group has since been secured as the new tenant. [NYT]
