Continental’s 300 units rent in first year

The first year of leasing at the 336-unit rental building the Continental, at 885 Sixth Avenue, saw all the luxury units rented, according to a statement from marketing agent Citi Habitats today.

Though leased out, the amenity-flush, 53-story tower, at 32nd Street, could soon have available units if tenants opt to move, a spokesperson for the building said. The tower was developed by Tower 111 LLC.

Streeteasy.com shows recent rentals included two-bedrooms for between $6,343 and $7,700, one-bedrooms for between $4,200 and $3,300 and studio apartments renting for $3,285.

The Continental chose a more commercial area for its high-end building though nearby Beatrice, the residential portion of the Eventi Hotel, has presented competition. The Continental sports a 15,000 square foot “amenity level” with a catering kitchen and “gaming lounge,” complete with billiards tables as well as a fireplace seating area and a landscaped terrace.

Citi Habitats Marketing Group, the excluisve marketer for the property, speculates that views helped spur rentals at the Costas Kondylis- and Goldstein Hill & West Architects-designed building. “What really ‘wows’ residents are the sweeping, open skyline views that many apartments offer. It’s rare to have such incredible views from the center of Manhattan,” Clifford Finn, president of new development marketing at Citi Habitats, said in the statement. — Guelda Voien
