Midtown West has nearly 60 percent of Manhattan hotel rooms scheduled to open this year

Exactly 2,501 new hotel rooms are slated to open in Manhattan in 2012, according to figures from The Real Deal‘s 2012 Data Book. Most of the new construction is occuring in Midtown West, which will bring 1,459 new rooms to the table. As evidenced in the chart below, three of the most immediate projects in the area are the TRYP Times Square South, a Holiday Inn on West 31st Street and the NoMad Hotel, all of which are expected to be done by March. On the other hand, just one hotel is slated for completion in all of Midtown East this year — the Pod Too at 145 East 39th Street. See the complete chart below.
